A Sing Along

" Sleigh bells ring....are ya listenin?....."

So I was in a (major retail store....sounds like Mal Fart) and this lady had about 17  3 kids with her. One was little and sitting in the front of the cart...probably about a year and a half old, one was riding in the back of the cart - probably about oh - 3 - and one was hanging on the end of the cart riding on the outside...maybe 7 years old. Every single one of them had something running from every opening in their face. Every single one of them was yelling..."Mommy...mommy mommymommymommy MOMMY can I have I want MOMMYMOMmy give me mommymommymommy...." She looked frazzled and worn. In her hand she had a list a mile long...and was dragging a cart behind her containing what looked like 3 weeks of groceries. It was the glazed look in her eye that caught my attention. As I came around the corner the little one on the outside reached out and knocked a display of canned cranberry sauce to the ground right in front of my cart. "OH! I'm so sorry" said the frazzled lady.  "mommy mommymommymommy MOMMY!" came from the chorus of little ones. "It's okay...no harm done" I replied. She looked at me and smiled...grabbed two cases of Bud Light, shrugged her shoulders and walked away.... Poor thing. "Merry Christmas" I said. "Merry Christmas...I'll give you Merry Christmas....when we get home I'm taking all your stockings down. You hear me? Oh yes I am. . . "  " BUT MOMMYmommymommymommy NOnono mommy.." "Act a fool how many times I have to tell you...?"  faded away down the aisle.

"In the lane...snow is glistenin'". . .

We got our first major snow here yesterday. I don't quite understand how people who live here in Indiana can't figure out how to drive in snow. Seriously. Yesterday I saw no less than 15 people slide off the road. They were also 15 of the folks that went flying past me as I crept along at a slow and steady pace. I was only going about 5 mph under the speed limit, leaving plenty of stopping room between me and the car in front of me....yet people were barreling past me like it was a bright sunny clear day. Well I say - if you're so stupid as to drive like a maniac in the ice and snow...you deserve to slide off the road....and you deserve for me to wave at you as I pass you by.

" A beautiful sight, we're happy tonight....walkin' in a winter wonderland..."

In my neighborhood we have what we call "tacky house". The people who live in "tacky house" must be ....ehm....bored. Every holiday they put out as much yard art and decorations as they can fit in their grass, on their house, in their trees and bushes. I know it's going to sound crazy ...but I swear there must be over 500 light up things in their yard...and I would bet there is 10,000 lights ...maybe more. They decorate the front AND back yard...as they are on a corner and can be seen from a major cross street....I can only imagine their electric bill. Puts my little light up tree and character holding a stocking to shame. Oh well - it's all in the spirit of Christmas. Right?

Hope your holidays are shaping up to be everything you hoped for and more...
