On Fairy Tales

Once upon a time, a long time ago ( or maybe not so long ago...probably  not so long ago) there were these two little boys who were part of a little club. At least - ONE of them  - Kevin -thought they were friends. ONE of them would do anything for the other, listened, helped when he could, tried to be a good friend always - while the other boy Tommy, well he just sort of was friends when he FELT like it. When it was convenient for him he would be a friend. When it was not imposing on is own schedule, or what people thought of him. He was of a little higher ehm...rank than the other boy at their club. Tommy was an officer in their little club and Kevin was just a MEMBER of the club. So - when other people were around , Tommy was full of himself, rude and even a little condescending. Kevin always noticed it, and many times he would feel badly about himself, and question whether Tommy really was his friend or if he was just being nice to Kevin because there wasn't anyone else to hang around with most of the time.

One day, the founder of the national club came to visit. Now, the founder of the club - Grand Marshall Bobby - he was of a really really  high stature. He was educated, well liked and had lots and lots of tokens. ( Which were the clubs currency, and very hard to earn). When Bobby came to visit the little local club - he came bearing gifts for Tommy. Very special gifts. Tommy was so proud of his gifts he flaunted them in front of Kevin's face and said..." Lookie what Bobby gave me. He gave it to me because he likes me better than you. Neener neener booboo".

Kevin then realized, that no matter how hard he tried, or how much he wanted to be - he would never be part of Tommy and Bobby's circle and Tommy would always feel like he was superior to Kevin, and would always make sure Kevin knew it.

The moral of the story? Not all people who claim to be your friends are really your friends. Sometimes they are just using you to make themselves feel better.

The end.

  1. Unfortunately, I'll bet we've all experienced this story in our own lives. This is a sad but true story.

I hope the pain associated with this story passes quickly.
